One thing that really surprised me about the built-in applications in the Newton MessagePad was that there was no timer to time phone calls, meetings or the usual items that we like to keep track of. As a result, I threw together this simple timer for all of us Newton "Pioneers" to use. It is indeed tiny, taking up just a small amount of the precious real estate in the built-in RAM.
This is kinda cool. Even if your Newton MessagePad goes to sleep to save on batteries, the timer will keep running. When you turn the Newt back on, you'll be pleasantly surprised to see the time still ticking away.
The interface is as simple as possible: Tap the "Start" button to start the timer, then tap the "Stop" button when you're ready to stop. Geez. It doesn't get much easier than that!
This is NOT freeware. SanSoft is not a big software developer, so the cost of the Newton Toolkit and the Newton MessagePad itself made a big dent in my already thin wallet. If you like this little program and use it on a regular basis, please do the following:
1) Grab an envelope.
2) Write the following on the outside of the envelope:

Highlands Ranch, CO 80126-2137 USA
3) Stuff a one dollar bill (US please!) inside the envelope
4) Stick proper postage on the outside of the envelope
5) Drop it into the outgoing mail....
That's all there is to it. By supporting the shareware concept, you're insuring the development of high-quality and low cost software in the future.
